Client Profile
A regional maternal health initiative supporting 12 rural clinics across the northern UAE, serving expectant mothers and newborns in underserved areas with limited infrastructure.
The Challenge
The clinics faced persistent gaps in maternal and newborn care continuity:
- High patient drop-off rates between antenatal (ANC), delivery, and postnatal (PNC) stages
- Paper-based records made it hard to track patient history or detect risks early
- Staff turnover meant care plans were often lost or inconsistently followed
- Follow-ups for newborn immunizations and maternal check-ups were frequently missed
Without a centralized digital system, even motivated care teams struggled to deliver consistent care.
Our Approach
Bioteknika configured a lightweight, offline-capable Patient Care Management system tailored to low-resource clinics:
- Structured Registration Forms to capture patient data from the first visit
- Stage-Based Care Plans for ANC, delivery, and PNC with built-in reminders
- Mobile-Ready Interface for midwives and nurses using tablets or basic laptops
- Consent and Alerting Tools for documenting approvals and flagging risk factors
- Outcome Tracking Dashboards to report on births, complications, and vaccination status
All data synced securely once clinics reconnected to the internet.
The Results (after 4 months)
- PNC visit completion improved by 52%, from 29% to 81%
- Documented risk factors increased by 2.3x, enabling earlier interventions
- Immunization tracking for newborns reached 96% accuracy
- Staff were able to access and update care plans even during staff rotations
“With this system, we don’t lose track of our patients—even if they move clinics or we lose staff. Everyone picks up where the last left off.”
